About AC/DC
A lot have changed since the early 1970's at the music scene. A lot, but when it comes to AC/DC, there are staff that remains the same. And it all centers around Angus Young. The little dude's guitar is still lightning fast, he still runs across stages around the world and he still – what else – wears those silly schoolboy cloths.
Together with brother Malcolm Young, Angus founded AC/DC in 1973 in Sidney, Australia, and after Malcolm's death in 2017 remained the only founding figure still active. During their 50 years of hard playing, AC/DC has gone through so many roaster changes, that the band has known no less than 26 band members.
Along the years, and quiet appropriately so, some weird stories have surfaced relating to the band: Like the one about drummer Phil Rudd, who was charged with hiring a hitman to kill a contractor and his daughter. Rudd has actually pleaded guilty Or the one about the death of lead vocalist Bon Scott aged only 33 from alcohol poisoning who was ruled "Death by Misadventure" Or the capture of US forces of Panama strongman Manuel Noriega. After the dictator rushed to and hide at an embassy for the Vatican, US army brought huge speakers and started blasting AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long". At the end, it was Noriega who gave in.
Back to music. AC/DC is one of hard rock/heavy metal's leading bands. The band have sold over 200 million records worldwide, as its 1980 "Back in Black" sold 50 million albums by itself, second only to Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
In 2003 AC/DC was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Up to date the band has released 18 studio albums. The last was "Power Up" (2020).
In May 2024, the band will hit the road with the Power Up Tour, that will kick off in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and will crisscross Europe until August.
And yes, Angus young will still run across the stage in his silly little schoolboy outfit. And his guitar will still be lightning fast.
